Vịnh Hạ Long or Halong Bay or Hạ Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quang Ninh province. The name Ha Long means "descending dragon."
Ha Long Bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes. With a total area of around 1,553 square kilometers including 1,960 to 2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments.
Sung Sot Cave on Bo Hon Island is an old phreatic cave, formed through karst evolution of more than 20 million years.
Underwater caves only accessible by boats.
Secluded lagoons, pristine blue waters, and diverse wildlife around. Monkeys along the cliffs provide an amusing spectacle. But I remind myself that this is their home and we are but visitors only.
Vietnamese personalities draw inspiration from Ha Long Bay's sceneries. Ho Chi Minh, the Old Father of Vietnam, wrote about Ha Long Bay: "It is the wonder that one cannot impart to others."
